Getting your first paying advertiser can be quite easy by starting out with Google Adwords. Google pays a variable click through rate for their ads and tailors the ads to your blog using key words.
You might find using the main click through advertising players and affiliate programs to be the best option for advertising. You can also have a link to more info about advertising on your site and have a rates program for advertisers - either as banner ads or Pay-Per-Click advertising. You can approach businesses directly as well as having them come to you.
The trick is to keep learning as you go while building the income and the content.
Blogs don’t have to require a lot of writing on your part. Entries can be small and you can always get yourself a blog editor to manage the writing side of things if writing isn’t your thing.

Many of us want to change the cycle of working for someone else and want to have additional sources of income.

So how about starting out with a blog that generates income? You can start with a few blog for the first few months so you can build up your content to then attract paying advertisers. While you are in this phase you can explore and learn more about blogging, what blogs are generating income and how they are doing it. You can also be listing your blog with various blog directories and work on key words. All of this is a learning phase that is also building the content foundations for your blog.

I’ve recently joined a blogging forum and one of the members I came across earns income from writing content for other people’s business blogs.
For those of us who love blogging and writing this is a great way to combine both and earn money from it.

As you probably know by now I have both an email newsletter as well as a blog. While some visitors check out both there are others who are only newsletter readers or only blog readers so it is beneficial for my business to have both.
The email newsletter has more details and a variety of pictures with links to the site and is sent out to my subscription list, it also announces the regular jewelry competition winners.
The blog has shorter pieces and only one picture per entry. It is found by others on the net and is not sent directly to customers - links to it are in the newsletter but that is to the blog.
Blogs can also bring more visitors to your site as they are well linked with search engines and have good results with them.
I see having a blog and a newsletter as having two different formats and avenues for communicating with potential and existing customers and find both beneficial. This could be good for your business too.

Having a blog is easy but when you’re starting out you usually have lots of questions and need the answers.
A blog is a web log - an online journal - that is regularly updated (daily, weekly, fortnightly etc) with entries.
Special techology is used to the entries but it doesn’t take special skills to set up and run a blog. You can get a free blog from a heap of places. I use www.blog.com for mine and am very happy with it.
You can add pictures to your blog either by copying them in or uploading them to your blog supplier. I copy in the pictures for the entries and have uploaded the images in the Album area. Once you figure out how to do it - follow the instructions offered by the blog service - it is easy.
Blogs are great ways to communicate and are quite addictive. Once you get into it you keep on going!
