The Lazy Way to Heal a Sprained Ankle

Hey there,

Off to the doctors today I went to find out when I could get back to normal with my sprained ankle and what a great visit it was! Heaps of praise for looking after the sprained ankle so well with the rest at the very beginning and the generous use of arnica.

So I should have completely normal use of it this time next week! So that is really just a two week recovery time for a moderately sprained ankle.

I’ve been asking everyone if they’ve sprained their ankle and how long it took for them to heal and I’ve only heard horror stories of it being weeks and weeks, even months but always they kept going when it initially happened and didn’t rest it in those first few days. So that resting it for 2 - 3 days makes weeks of difference in the healing!

I dealt with the itchy healing stage with a natural moisturiser with lavender in it to sooth and that did the job so no more waking up at stupid hours trying to satisfy a frustrating itchy foot!

So my recommendation is to let your body rest as soon as possible so it can heal as quickly as possible. You save so much more time and effort this way that solidering on.

What to Do with The Family Pet this Holidays

Hey there,

Holidays are great and sharing your life with another species is great but often the two don’t mix and it can be tricky. So what to do? Don’t go on holidays, put the pet in a kennel or see if the neighbours will look after the little darling? How about taking your beloved pet on holidays with you?

I learnt about a great website that lists details of holiday places you can take your pet with you - PetStay. It has a range of places you can stay with your dog or cat including categories such as farmstay, cottages, houseboats, apartment, caravan parks and camping grounds, bed and breakfasts, hotels and motels, flats, units, and cabins and all by State as well.

So check it out and get the creative holiday planning juices going!

Help Bring Belinda Emmett’s dream real

Hey there,

The passing of Belinda Emmett has touched us all, the loss of a vibrant, strong and talented much loved young woman to breast cancer just stops you.

There is nothing we can do to help the family and friends stop hurting but we can make a difference for other women going through their own battles.

Belinda Emmett and Jane McGrath have found friendship, support, strength and joy over the last few years. So when it came for Belinda’s family making a choice about what to do with the community’s need to show care and respect they recognised Belinda’s wish for there to be more Breast care nurses.

Breast care nurses provide support and care for those going through breast cancer treatment. These dedicated nurses answer questions, offer support and care as well as knowing what’s involved in both treatment and resources. These nurses make a big difference and money raised through donations made to the McGrath Foundation will put (it already has) more breast care nurses in more hospitals.

So empower yourself and other women and men in the fight against breast cancer and donate to the McGrath Foundation today. Keep making a difference too with your choice of Christmas cards this year - get the Hallmark Christmas cards with pink ribbons on the box and back of the card so more money is raised for breast cancer research so we can stop this disease in its tracks.

How to make it happen, how to donate:

Bank: National Australia Bank

Account Name: McGrath Foundation Ltd BSB: 082 067 Account number: 589271582

Online: McGrath Foundation

Post: PO Box 993, Manly NSW 2095

Richard Fidler’s Conversation Hour

Hey there,

I’ve just been really impressed by Richard Fidler of 702 all over again with his interview with Jeff Gambin of Just Enough Faith.

Just Enough Faith is a really interesting organisation that is best descibed in their own words:

Established in 1993, Just Enough Faith is run by former restaurateur Jeff Gambin and his wife Alina Gambin, and a small team of volunteers to who feed Sydney’s growing hordes of homeless people.

Over 20 per cent people choose to be homeless, 45% are mentally ill, but the remaining 35% are just poor and destitute who simply need a break.

Seven days a week, 12 months a year, they serve more than 400 hot meals a night out of their van primary drawing on their own funds and relying on goodwill of food suppliers to cover the remaining 20%.

However, their objective is much more than just feeding the homeless. Its about giving them hope and helping them regain respect by counselling and where possible housing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So be part of the change, send money, volunteer, write to corporations suggesting they help, find jobs and hope.
The Meaning of Crystals and Gemstones - Tigers Eye
Hey there,
I love working with gemstones and crystals and thought I’d share some of the meanings of them.
Tiger’s Eye
Tiger’s Eye is a quartz with a fibrous structure. It is black, with an iron oxide staining that creates the yellow and golden brown stripes.
It is used as a physical healing crystal to balance energy of the physical body. It can be good for helping to clear bodily toxins. It has also been used traditionally for improving both physical and psychical vision.
For the emotions it is used for maintaining a positive outlook, for optimism and self assurance and bringing balance to moods.
Tiger’s Eye is used for Chakras for balanceing the base and solar plexus chakras.
As for zodic affiliations it is connected to Capricorn.
How to be Part of Big Money Raised For Breast Cancer Research
Hey there,
I found out something amazing that has left my head spinning because it is a really big amount of money coming from something really quite small.
Over $10 MILLION (dollars) have been raised for breast cancer research by the Hallmark Christmas and Mother’s Day cards with the Pink Ribbons on them since the initiative started!
That is amazing! $10 Million makes a huge difference to research. That money has been raised by ordinary people buying specially marked cards (they have the NBCF Pink Ribbon on them and on any box they come in). This sort of money saves people’s lives, saves loved ones from broken hearts that never really mend, saves the nation from loss of potential wealth and expensive health care services, it only does good, it is amazing.
And the best thing about it is we can all be part of this magnificent solution. We can all use our spending money to buy goods; cards, pens, water, scarves etc etc, that raise money for research, whether that be for breast cancer or any other health or community issue that needs solutions.
We might think that 10 per cent of a sale isn’t much but the reality is 10 per cent of 100’s of thousands adds up very quickly to make really big differences. So get involved. Spend you Christmas card and presents money on products that actively give to your community. Be part of the difference!
Come visit our Pink Ribbon area on our website.  :)
Get these beautiful earrings and we give 50 per cent of the sale amount to the National Breast Cancer Foundation because every business needs to actively give to their community and you need to have beauty in your daily life. :)
Red Hat Society on Enough Rope
Hey there,
Last night I was introduced to the Red Hat Society on Andrew Denton’s “Enough Rope” and loved the idea.
To best explain the Red Hat Society I’ve borrow an explanation from one of their groups:
“The Red Hat Society began in California as a result of a few women deciding to greet middle age with verve, humor and élan. They were inspired by a poem called, “Warning,” by Jenny Joseph, who depicted an old woman who declares revolution against her encroaching age by planning to wear red hats and purple outfits.
“Thus was born a very loose and casual international organization of women who just want to have fun. Red Hat Societies exist in more than 33 countries from Algeria to Wales, Australia to Venezuela. There are chapters in every state in the U.S. and across Canada. “
So I thought over the coming entries I’ll gather together website links so you too can find out more about this fun and happy society. So far these are the links I’ve found:
Red Hat Society of Bendigo
Sydney (RHS) Sassy Sisters
Red Hat Society Main Site
Have a Gathering of the RHS with a Fun Jewellery Party!
We also have decorative metal earring stands (our earring holders are really popular so check them out!), earrings, necklaces, bracelets, Catherine Popesco French Designer Jewelrymatching jewelry sets, and much more. So come shop online with Creatively Belle.
